After Breast Augmentation: What Bra is Best?
breast augmentation, Breast Implants Comments Off
You’ve done it! After researching:
- Which board-certified plastic surgeon to use
- The surgical center
- How to conduct an initial consultation
- How to finance your surgery
- Which days you will need to take off of work or school
You have completed your long-dreamed of breast enlargement. Congratulations!
Did you think that compression garment bra was the one you were going to wear henceforth to protect your new look?
No, that’s just for the recovery period. But plastic surgeons do advise taking some care in finding an appropriate garment after healing.
The hunt now may be easier, according to plastic surgeon blogger Robert Kenevan, M.D. who notes that more companies have noticed the needs of breast surgery patients who need larger cup sizes with smaller back band sizes.
So, if you explain you need an after breast enhancement bra, you’ll find more choices.
While you should be sure to ask your surgeon what is most appropriate for you, many women wear a sports bra after they have received the medical O.K. to quit wearing the compression garment.
Surgeons say the important thing is finding a bra that fits well and supports the breasts. Other tips include:
- Forget about push-up bras; they can cause trouble for your breast implants.
- Shoulder straps should keep the breasts firmly in position.
- New bras should fit snugly on the outermost setting. If the garment stretches later, you can use several hooks down.
- The back strap should be comfortable yet fit firmly. If the back strap is riding up, you are not helping your new implants.
- If your breasts spill out when you bend, you may need more cup coverage.
- If the cup is not filled, you may need a smaller size.
- If a cup wrinkles, it may be too big. Bulging at the top or the sides may mean the cup is too small.
- Wire bottom bras should be worn only occasionally.
Do you have trouble buying a bra?
